Howard Association Markers 2

Hello to our families and friends. This is the first blog post to our redeveloped website.

The purpose of this blog is to keep you informed of what is happening at Elmwood with our historical and genealogy research, archival work, special events and tours.

We hope to utilize this blog to answer recurring questions, too, so don't be surprised if you email the staff a question and it ends up as the topic of a blog post!

Thank you for your interest in and support of Elmwood Cemetery.

Daisy Albertson: I am trying to locate the grave of George Barnett Boswell, who died in Memphis during the Yellow Fever epidemic. He was born in 1840 in Henderson, KY; fought in the Civil War and later moved to Placerville, CA and on to Laramie, Wy. He went to Memphis for his health, ironically, and came down with yellow fever during the epidemic and died there. We believe he is buried at your cemetery. Any information you have would be appreciated. THX

Kim McCollum: Marsha, please contact the Elmwood Historian at historian@elmwoodcemetery.org. She is glad to help!

Marsha Benya: I am trying to locate the grave sites of Earl Cornelison, and Jerome(Gerome) Cornelison. I have been told they are buried at Elmwood. Is there any way to get photos of the head stones. I live in Maryland and it is hard for me to do this. Thanks Marsha

Mary Darelius: I am looking for an ancestor that I believe to be buried at Elmwood Cemetery. Her name is Sarah Coit Mumford Miller. The date of her death would be after the Civil War, probably around 1870 or 1880. The Miller family lived in Miller, MS and buried their family at Elmwood. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
