April Fools: Famous People Not Buried At Elmwood
Who is buried at Elmwood and is famous? Not these folks! Join us for a 90 minute walking tour of the cemetery and we'll visit sites where people like Andrew Jackson, Mick Jagger, and Abraham Lincoln are absolutely not buried. That's not to say they don't have a connection to Elmwood, though!
We'll start at 10:30AM at the historic Cottage. The cost is $20 per person. Good walking shoes are recommended. Call us with questions at 901-774-3212.
Elmwood & The Civil War
When Elmwood Cemetery was founded in 1852, the original proprietors set aside eight acres of land for the interment of veterans who died in the line of fire. Little did they know that soon that land would be needed. There are over 1,000 soldiers who died in the Civil War resting at Elmwood. We invite you to learn some of this history.
Civil War Historian and Elmwood volunteer Donald Harrison will lead this walking tour through the cemetery. This tour will last 2 hours. The cost is $20 per person. Starts at 10:30 AM. For more information, call 774-3212.
