Visitors are welcome to step back into history and experience eighty acres of stately trees and statuary in the beautiful blend of nature and art that is Elmwood Cemetery.
Please come by the Victorian Carpenter Gothic Cottage which serves as our Visitor Center for maps, audio tours, picnic tables and handicap accessible restrooms. Research assistance is also available in the cottage, and security is on the grounds during business hours.
Tickets purchased for any of the events below are not refundable. Coupons are used for "Elmwood 101" tours only.
Mother's Day Tea
Take time out from the hustle and bustle to enjoy a lovely mid-morning tea at Elmwood. After tea, mimosas, scones, lemon squares, and brownies, there will be a short but sweet tour of the cemetery grounds. What a grand way to spend a spring Saturday morning!
Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing is recommended. Admission is $35 per person and advance registration is required. This event begins at 10:00 AM. Questions? Call 901-774-3212.

Join long-time Elmwood volunteer Donald Harrison for this special two hour walking tour of the Elmwood grounds. This tour experience will enhance the your knowledge of the lives of the men and women whose lives were touched by the Civil War.
This tour begins at 10:30 AM. $20 per person.
Belles of the Battlefield
The veterans of the American Civil War are remembered by all as men. But women played an incredibly vital role in the Civil War on both sides of the great divide. Spies, wives who transported contraband, and mothers-turned-nurses are all found at Elmwood.
Volunteer Cookie Swain will illuminate the history of the women of the war during a 45 minute Lunch & Lecture Presentation. Registration is required, and admission is $15 per person. Begins at noon. Call 774-3212 for more information.

Tree Tour of Elmwood
Elmwood is home to almost 1,500 trees and serves Memphis as a Level II Arboretum. Many of the trees at Elmwood have survived since before the cemetery was founded in 1852. This tree tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with Elmwood while getting to know the canopy that shades its residents and visitors.
This tour is all-walking and begins at 10:30 AM. The cost is $10 per person. Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Register online below.
Spellbound: The Tales of Elmwood Cemetery Tour
Join us for a special Memorial Day Tour of Elmwood Cemetery! This tour begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts 90 minutes and costs $15 per person. You'll visit private family mausoleums, Victorian-age funerary sculpture, and see ancient trees, and hear many stories of Memhis in a bygone era. For information, call 901-774-3212.
The grounds of Elmwood are open every day of the year, including Memorial Day. The grounds will be open from 8 am until 4:30 pm. The office will be open from 8 am until 3 pm.
Visitors are welcome to stop by the Cottage where we will give out small American flags for placement at the gravesites of your choosing.
